The Game Of The Year (GOTY) Award. The most prestigious accolade. The most sort after moniker. The "Holy Grail" of the Gaming Industry.
Next week, (Officially, it's scheduled for the 7th of December) The Game Awards will be aired worldwide via most forms of media. (You can find out how to watch the ceremony by clicking HERE) For those who don't know (because they haven't clicked the link above, labeled "The Game Awards") The Game Awards is a yearly ceremony honoring specific aspects of video games and the video gaming industry. It asks voter to choose which game has done a specific thing well and then gives them (The game, its developer, a Voice/Motion Capture Artist, etc) a trophy for their achievement. (See what I did there...) Essentially, The Game Awards are like The Emmys, The Grammys, The VMAs, The Oscars of Gaming. (If none of those analogies helped you understand what The Game Awards are then you may want to turn off your system and get a life. JUST KIDDING!!! [LOLOL] Why would you ever turn off your system. What self-respecting gamer does that? Systems have Sleep Mode now)
I figured I would play a more active role in this year's voting process and actually influence the selection (Because I'm occasionally flabbergasted by the games that win some of the awards but also because I want to be a part of the decision-making process this time around and, mainly, because I'm sick and tired of people choosing the wrong game to win the GOTY Award [That one hurts me the most]). So I did some digging and found a site where you can vote for the nominees that you think should win in the different categories. I had no idea that this site existed before yesterday (I originally thought the winners were chosen by a selected group of people [mooks] who chose the wrong game to win GOTY) and I was happy to learn how easy it was to get my voice heard on the topics that matter to me (as a gamer). Now I can make a difference, I can have a say, I can help forge the future.
I feel so empowered and it's exhilarating!

Now I'm spreading the power to you, my readers, so you may experience the feeling for yourself. I hope you make informed decisions when you exercise your right to chose and take care with the choices you make. As they will have grave consequences and repercussions.
Remember! "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely" - John Dalberg-Acton, 1st Baron Acton and "With great power, comes great responsibility" - Uncle Ben, Spiderman.
Godspeed my fellow gamers. Live long and prosper and may the force be with you.
